PEEP Scholarships Now Available The Pride Entrepreneur Education Program (PEEP) is set to begin awarding scholarships for the 2008 school year.  African Americans (up to 25 years old) who wish to pursue education and training that will allow them to improve their lives by mastering skills, launching careers or entrepreneurial endeavors are encouraged to apply. 

While all applications will be accepted, special consideration will be given to students at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology and West Charlotte High School and other individuals seeking specialized training.  A scholarship selection committee will review applications and make all final decisions.   

Applicants will be required to complete the application form, write a personal statement and submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, administrator or member of the community.  Details can be viewed and the application obtained on the PEEP Web site.   

All required materials must be completed and mailed to PEEP at P.O. Box 30113, Charlotte, NC, 28230 no later than June 30, 2008.   Finished materials may also be hand delivered to the PEEP office at 312 West Trade Street, Ste. 702, Charlotte, NC, 28202.   Final decisions about 2008 scholarships will be made by July 30, 2008.  

PEEP is a not-for-profit organization recognized under Section 501(c)(3) Internal Revenue Code in May 2007.  Its purpose is to help eliminate future socio-economic disparities in the African American community by promoting education, vocational skills and entrepreneurship among youths ages 16-25.   The 2008 scholarships are made possible by a generous $20,000 donation from First Charter Bank and will be renewable for a second year.
