Overview

“Tailoring Teens for Success” (TTFS) is a 13-week character-building and leadership development curriculum for girls (ages 11-16 years old). It is designed to transform the lives of girls so they become self-aware, self-managed, and socially competent. TTFS serves as Girl Talk’s core program.

Timeframe

Our program is a 13-week curriculum. The participants are required to attend at least 11 sessions to graduate from the program. The sessions are held on Saturdays depending on the week from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The first session will start on Saturday, February 8, 2025, and run until Saturday, June 14, 2025. You will receive a curriculum calendar with all of the dates required for them to attend during the timeframe listed above. We will have a pause for Spring Break and the Easter Holiday. Girl Talk participants can’t miss more than 2 sessions to graduate.

We will announce the workshop locations once our enrollment period is closed. All locations for workshops will be in the surrounding areas of Charlotte. Example: Uptown Charlotte, University City, and South Charlotte.

Registration Fee

Curriculum fee (includes $3.00 processing fee) $200.00/per participant.

Purpose of Program

“Tailoring Teens for Success” provides a brave space for participants to address adolescent issues such as self-esteem, friendships, emotions, body image, tolerance/diversity, social media, and financial literacy to name a few. The overarching goal of the curriculum is to help and/or further develop participant’s skills in the areas of self-awareness, social-awareness and self-management.

A parent component is also included in the program. Parents of curriculum participants are required to attend four Parent Workshops during the 13 week curriculum that assists them in forming academic and social partnerships with their children.

  • Increase self-awareness (stronger sense of self)

  • Increase self-management (adapt and open to change; improve interaction with others)

  • Increase social competence (able to connect and lead with others)

  • Increase level of future orientation (increase interest in college or trade school)
